Live In A Real Lighthouse For Your Family Vacation

Today I was searching around for interesting places for vacation and I found this one.

Imagine living for a week on an island off of Newport, Rhode Island, you and your family the official lighthouse keepers.

Become our Keeper for a Week

Have you dreamed of being a lighthouse keeper? This is about as close as you can get!

If you are reliable, have some basic mechanical skills and have (or are willing to adopt) a lifestyle that conserves water and electricity, maybe we can make your dream come true! Exclusive use of the keeper's modern 2nd floor apartment is yours for the week.

Sign up for our original keeper program and work just a few hours each day or for our full day keeper program that is tax deductible. Families are especially welcome for this rewarding volunteer vacation.

Stay Overnight in the Museum

Our Lighthouse museum looks just as it did at the turn of the century when Charles and Christina Curtis were keepers.

It is kept busy during the daytime from 10 AM to 4 PM in the spring and fall when we offer tours to school groups. In the summer (when the ferry is running) it is open for daily public tours. Group tours are offered in the fall only by appointment.

After the museum closes each day, the two keeper’s bedrooms become available for people who want to step back in time. . . a mile offshore and a century in the past. Become the keeper for a night!
